About

Simone Bennett is a multimedia artist whose work spans film, photography, and audio installations. Through her practice, she investigates the interconnectedness between people and their environment, such as how (wild) fires shape and inform communities, how generational ties affect living, and how individuals experience social unrest.

The works often combine different mediums, layering memories that show how change unfolds in time.

Her work blends staged and documentary elements, creating a cinematic hybrid that reflects personal narratives. Collaboration is central to Bennett’s work, as she engages with communities and other artists.

In addition to her practise, Bennett is a mother, an art educator, and Co-Head of the VAV (Moving Image) department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie.
